Nobody in this film wants a war. Northumbria, 1149. A Norman lord wants three hundred marks and a road home. The English lord holding the town wants to stop burying people. Between them rides Brother Oswin — the only man on the field who speaks both languages, and he doesn't speak one as well as he thinks. Three messages cross the valley. He inflates the first, inverts the second, and invents the third. Neither lord ever finds out. A spec commercial for Duolingo.
